Kal Bhairo (Madurai Veeran) |
|
|
The eighteenth deity that we worship is Kal Bhairo or Madurai Veeran.
Kal Bhairo is another form of Lord Shiva, where he is a great good
knight with thick black moustache, bright eyes and a sword in his hand.
He is a warrior that rides a horse and has a dog by his side. Madurai
Veeren the excellent swordsman is the protector of Maha Kali and is
also her Temple Guardian.
He is also known as the Brother of Maha Kali and was blessed by her as such, that his
puja is the very last offering her devotees must make after her puja is performed.
After
adoring and praising our Big Mother, we worship her faithful warrior
servant, Kal Bhairo, guardian of her doorway, we seek your devotion to
Maa, Mai, Ammaa, we call you by many different names: Master, Madurai
Veeren, Victor of Madurai, Commander of the Madurai Meenakshi. Bless us
with your courage, faithfulness and devotion to Ammaa. O Brave one, we
bow to thee over and over again!
